Simeone has won his 2nd La Liga title this season after his side finished two points ahead of arch-rivals Real Madrid at the top of the league, adding to his cupboard trophy with Atletico Madrid with two Europa League trophies as well.
Simeone is reportedly the highest-paid manager in world football and his new contract could even include a pay rise, rewarding Argentina for its long service to the team.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Atletico Madrid and Simeone will agree on a deal that will link the manager with the club until June 2024 as both teams are determined to continue the club’s development.
La Liga’s victory this season was the club’s first trophy since the 2013-14 season, and the signing of Barcelona’s Superstar Luis Suarez proved to be an encouragement as Uruguayan scored 21 La Liga goals this season.
Since Simeone’s arrival in 2012, he has managed to oversee 527 games for the club and is currently the second longest-serving manager in Europe’s top 5 leagues.
