Ruben Dias played a key role in Manchester City’s title campaign after joining Benfica in September and also helped Guardiola’s men win the Carabao Cup and reach the Champions League final.
In 32 league games, the 24-year-old Portuguese player has participated in 15 clean sheets, making 35 interceptions, 24 tackles, 23 blocks, and 135 rebounds.
Last month he was named Footballer of the Football Writers ’Association and is one of the nominees for the Professional Footballers’ Association of the Year.
Dias’ nominees for the Premier League award are Manchester City team-mate Kevin De Bruyne, who won it last year Premier League player of the year, Bruno Fernandes, Jack Grealish, Harry Kane, Mason Mount, Mohamed Salah, and Thomas Soucek.
Pep Guardiola, whose team finished with 12 points, is clearly in second place with Manchester United, winning the manager’s trophy for the 3rd time, having done two more times to lead City to the Premier League title, in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
Other nominees have been Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Leicester’s Brendan Rodgers, West Ham’s David Moyes, and Leeds’ Marcelo Bielsa.
