The Norwegian international had a six-month loan spell at the Emirates last season – scoring 2 goals and 2 assists in 20 games – and the Gunners have been keen to stay with him this summer.
After Odegaard was left out of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad to face Alaves in Saturday’s La Liga match, the player’s agents reportedly flew to London to discuss a deal with Arsenal.
According to the Athletic reports that Arsenal are very close to welcoming Martin Odegaard to the club, with the 22-year-old missing Real Madrid training on Tuesday in anticipation of a transfer.
The report also adds that Real Madrid will agree to a sale for less than £ 30m, and if details are not finalized soon, Odegaard could be announced during a clash with Chelsea on Sunday.
The former Stromsgodset star signed for Real Madrid as a 16-year-old in 2015 but has already made 11 games for the big club, and his existing contract at the Bernabeu is due to expire in 2023.
