Eduardo Camavinga’s career at Real Madrid has started well. The 18-year-old was well received at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and within six minutes he put the ball in the net to give Los Blancos a 4-2 lead.

The French midfielder, the last day signed from Rennes, was Carlo Ancelotti’s first change, in 65 minutes, and the crowd, finally returning to Bernebeu, were eager to see the much-watched wonder-kid work.

In place of Eden Hazard, Camavinga stepped into the middle of the pitch as Real Madrid looked to defend their 3-2 lead. After emphasizing a few good touches early, the boy will then extend the opportunity for his new team.

In making his debut, the French international became the 33rd youngest player in Real Madrid history. He joins a good list of prospects who made their debuts in Madrid at a young age, including some of his current colleagues.

Vinicius Junior is 18th on the list of newcomers to Madrid, and Rodrygo is 30th. Leading the list is Martin Odegaard, whom Ancelotti first met at the age of 16, making him one of the club’s most distinguished players.

With his first LaLiga Santander game now under his belt, the next step for Camavinga is making his first Champions League game for Los Blancos, which he can do on Wednesday, away from Inter.

Assuming he will make his first appearance in the Champions League for his new club soon, Camavinga will be ninth in Madrid’s shortlist for the tournament, just behind Rodrygo. The record keeper in his category is midfielder Jose Rodriguez, who was given the first chance by 17-year-old Jose Mourinho.
