Jerome Rothen: Sergio Ramos was a bad idea Signing for PSG

Although he has not started playing for Paris Saint-Germain, Sergio Ramos will be criticized this week following his signing.

Due to injury, it is unlikely Sergio Ramos will play his first game against the French team until, early on September 22 against Metz.

Former PSG player and now RMC Sports commentator Jerome Rothen is the latest to criticize the former Real Madrid defender.

“Feeding a calf muscle injury towards the end of your career is very bad news because it’s an injury that you rarely fully recover from,” Rothen said.

“If a player increases his rhythm, either during a game or in training with PSG, he may not be able to continue.

“And when a player reaches a certain age, he needs to play more games to get back on track.

“Will he be able to get back to a higher level if he has constant pain in his calf? I really doubt that.”

Rothen also commented on how Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe have a huge impact on the dressing room, in his view.

“When he arrived, everyone said Sergio Ramos would change his mind inside the dressing room,” he continued.

“But today, Marquinhos and Kimpembe are better than Ramos in their own strength.

“His promotional skills are not enough at the moment for PSG. He needs to bring more to the team on the pitch.

“If he can’t do that, it doesn’t help to have him. That’s why I think signing Ramos was a bad idea for PSG.”
