Robert Lewandowski’s current contract with the German giants expires in the summer of 2023, and he has reportedly informed the club of his desire to seek a new challenge next year.
As a result, Lewandowski is surprisingly linked with a move to the Premier League club, with Real Madrid reportedly pointing to the Polish international striker as an alternative to Erling Haaland.
Manchester City have also been asked to move to Lewandowski as there are reports that they will not renew their bid for Harry Kane, but Fichajes says Liverpool are expected to fight their leading rivals for their services.
The report adds that Jurgen Klopp specifically requested the signing of Lewandowski, who entered the scene under the German coach while they were at Borussia Dortmund.
Lewandowski has already scored 10 goals in 6 games in all competitions this season, including a brace in a 3-0 win over Barcelona on Tuesday in the Champions League.
