Barcelona are still in talks with Xavi Hernandez over the appointment of Ronald Koeman as manager.
Barca president Joan Laporta has publicly announced Ronald Koeman, insisting he will continue his work, but as revealed in the 90min last week, those in charge of Camp Nou are actively trying to convince Xavi to return to the club.
Spanish media reports have suggested that an agreement has been reached with Xavi, but few sources have confirmed that this is not the case, even though talks with the Al-Sadd manager have included discussions about salary and other financial terms.
Negotiations continue, with Laporta determined to make Xavi a successor to Koeman, but disagreements with the former midfielder – or another candidate – saw Laporta vowing to stick with the Dutch for now.
However, Ronald Koeman’s replacement remains high on Joan Laporta’s list of priorities, but no decision will be made immediately until a permanent replacement is found.
Laporta do not want another interim coach and are keen to start building Barcelona soon, and as a result, are ready to stick with Koeman until the right option emerges.
Other candidates for the election, including Roberto Martinez from Belgium, are also being considered. The Spaniard has reiterated his desire to see his contract with the Red Devils, which expires after the 2022 World Cup, but recently refused to take the position earlier.
