Real Madrid may not have been able to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer, but Karim Benzema is confident his French teammate will be a Los Blancos player for some time.
Paris Saint-Germain were unwilling to sell their French superstar in the previous transfer market window as they aim to do what is necessary to renew his contract, which will start in June 2022.
“Mbappe said it himself,” Benzema told L’Equipe.
“He wants to see more. One day he will play for Real Madrid.
“I don’t know when. But he’ll come. It’s just a matter of time.”
Benzema also believes the Real Madrid team has great potential and stressed that he is happy to be working as a Los Blancos youth mentor.
“Madrid is still the best club in the world,” added Benzema.
“Rebuilding or not, it’s new football, new generation, new players.
“We need to invest in young people so that one day they can become better footballers.
“I’m here to help them. I talk a lot with them. I want to improve them.
“When you develop others, you develop a team and you get a lot of satisfaction.”
