Sergi Barjuan was introduced as Barcelona’s interim coach on Friday after the sacking of Ronald Koeman, and he is excited about the upcoming challenge.

Barcelona are still determined to try to bring in the Qatar club’s Al Sadd manager and Baca legend Xavi Hernandez as soon as possible, but until then it will be Sergi who is in charge of the first team.

“Thank you for your confidence,” Sergi told Joan Laporta during a press conference.

“I’m sending a hug to Koeman. There is little workspace when you play on Tuesday and Saturday.

“I’ll try to push the methods I think might work. The way we play won’t change, the players are the same. We’ve talked a few tricks.”

Sergi is determined to create a good atmosphere for the first team during his time as head coach.

“The first thing is to bring back a happy face, if we bring back the players and bring back the idea of attacking the ball it will help us,” he said.

“I am a winner and I love the winning players. We all have to change the situation. Depending on how we see it, we will intervene more or less.”
