Tottenham Hotspurs lost 3-0 in their last group stage match against Rennes after the match was postponed due to a wave of positive coronavirus cases between Tottenham Hotspurs players and staff.

The new date before the December 31 deadline will not be agreed upon between the clubs.

Tottenham Hotspurs needed to win their last game against the French team, which had already secured a top spot in the group, to advance to Vitesse Arnhem.

“It is not clear, but there is another step to confirming whether or not this is a good decision,” Conte said Tuesday.

“We are very confident with the next step and I repeat and we deserve to play qualifying matches on the field, not on the field.

“I can’t accept this. We are very disappointed with UEFA for this decision.”

If Spurs fail to overturn that decision, then the opportunity for Conte to end the club drought that began in 2008 will be over.

But the Italian has another chance in Wednesday’s League Cup quarter-final against West Ham to continue despite rising Covid cases throughout London forcing mayor Sadiq Khan to announce a “major incident” in the English capital.

“Winning trophies is always important but I think this time, this time for Tottenham, it’s good to think it’s time to rebuild something important,” added Conte, who joined the club last month.

“If you ask me if trophies are important for all clubs.

“For me, it is important to build a strong foundation, a foundation, to have a team in the short term that will be able to compete, fight for every tournament, and fight for every tournament you play.”

Antonio Conte has confirmed that Spurs no longer have Covid charges in their camp.
