Ansu Fati has not improved enough in his recovery from a hamstring injury and was ruled out of Barcelona’s next Champions League match against Bayern Munich.
Barcelona goes into the match knowing they may need to win at the German champions’ home to advance to the knockout stages of the Champions League, while Benfica will be able to jump to second place with a win over Dynamo Kyiv.
Obviously, a great game and Fati has informed manager Xavi that he wants to be considered a game no matter how good he is.
It was hoped that Fati could return on time, but according to AS, a decision was made to leave the player at home in the game.
Despite Fati’s determination, Barcelona have been adamant that they will not chase him back until he is 100% right. The 19-year-old missed almost a year with a serious knee injury and has suffered minor problems since returning in September, and there have been concerns that his body may have a work problem after being thrown in for so long.
Barcelona were keen to give Fati a chance to return to coaching the team on Friday, but his resilience was not close enough and that was postponed to Sunday, but it has now been permanently delayed as Fati continues to recover.
There is no suggestion that his recovery has stopped or that his injuries have grown. His return against Bayern was a dream come true and it has now been decided that Fati will not be able to play on Wednesday.
Instead, a meeting with Elche on December 18 was identified as a possible return for Fati.
