Gavi and Nico could both have Barcelona first-team contracts in January

Barcelona’s problems outside the stadium this season seem to be over, although the latter seems to have a simple solution, as both Gavi and Nico are expected to have first-team contracts in January.

LaLiga rules say there must be seven first-team players on the field for each home game, but Los Cules found this difficult to do with a number of late injuries.

These injuries have increased the use of graduate students in La Masia, and Xavi has found it difficult to put together an XI with seven key players in it.

The sports department at Camp Nou believes they have found a solution to this problem, and that increases Nico and Gavi’s first-team contracts, so they look to seven senior players who need to be used by Xavi.

It would have been the case anyway when both midfielders were fully part of the first evolving team in Barcelona in 2021/22, and they used to play as beginners, so this could mean they could be played on the same list. Abde Ezzalzouli, Ferran Jutgla and Alejandro Balde.
