Liverpool have been given a massive boost ahead of their top-of-the-table cash with Chelsea on January 2 as the Egyptian FA have allowed Mohamed Salah to stay with the English side instead of traveling to the Africa Cup of Nations.
Mohamed Salah was expected to travel to meet up with his national side between Christmas and New Year like most players involved in the tournament, but Liverpool have been given permission to keep their star man for a little while longer, according to The Mirror.
Most players with joining up with their countries from December 27 onwards, but Salah will leave the Liverpool squad immediately after the game against Chelsea.
The tournament kicks off on January 9, just a week after Liverpool’s trip to Stamford Bridge, but Egypt doesn’t play their opener against Nigeria until January 11, giving Salah a bit more leeway
Head coach Jurgen Klopp will also be without Naby Keita and Sadio Mane for the month of January, but this agreement with Egypt over Salah is a huge positive.
Salah has been in sensational form this season, with 15 goals and nine assists in 18 Premier League appearances so far.
