Manchester United are ready to fight for the signing of Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, as well as Premier League rivals Chelsea who are also reportedly interested.
The 23-year-old has a 68-pound release clause that both clubs should open for him to give him an award outside of the Spanish club, where he has become an integral part of Julen Lopetegui’s team.
According to The Sun, Chelsea applied for the Frenchman last summer but have not been able to reach an agreement with Sevilla, who rescinded the deal in August.
However, the Blues are likely to try again in January as they hope the player’s number has dropped to the point where they can reach an agreement.
Thomas Tuchel is determined to make Kounde one of his three players, with Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva, and Cesar Azpilicueta all out of contract next summer.
Currently, there are no signs of anyone signing a new contract with Chelsea, as Barcelona are monitoring Azpilicueta’s situation while PSG and Real Madrid are keen on Rudiger.
