Real Madrid could be scheduled for another UEFA Champions League meeting with Chelsea, in just 8 months doing so in last season’s semi-finals.
According to Marca, This is the prediction of Fran Martinez (@LaLigaenDirecto), who has already explored who he could face in the last 16 of the tournament.
By going with their numbers, and if Villarreal managed to advance to the knockout Thursday night in their redesigned match against Atalanta, Real Madrid have a 32 percent chance of facing Chelsea, with the next Paris Saint-Germain 19 percent likely.
If Atalanta chases a yellow submarine, the chances of a Chelsea-Real Madrid match dropping to 27% are slim.
As for Atletico Madrid’s next rivals in this competition, Juventus or Manchester City look likely, with the former (22%) Atalanta likely to improve with the loss of Villarreal.
If Unai Emery’s men win, they will face stiff opposition in the next round, with Juventus, Liverpool or Manchester City all coming in at 19 percent.
