Barcelona says they can do business with the upcoming winter transfer window, however, LaLiga president Javier Tebas sees their desire to sign Erling Haaland out of the question.
Xavi Hernandez is determined to strengthen his squad soon and, although the Norwegian midfielder is more focused on summer than winter, Tebas still believes Barcelona’s economic woes will prevent them from signing such a deal.
“I do not think it is possible for Barca to sign Erling Haaland because of their [economic situation ] numbers and financial constraints,” Tebas said at the LaLiga Twenty-nine event.
“There will have to be a lot of situations and agent Mino Raiola is not selling cheaply, he is selling a lot.”
Barcelona were among three clubs that rejected a CVC contract this summer, although they are said to be in talks with the club now.
Tebas, however, does not know why they are talking.
“Yes I know Barca is talking to CVC, but I don’t know what they are negotiating for,” he said.
“In the case, when it comes to Real Madrid it’s scary. We’re used to it.
“We are over 50 and today we know we have won another one. If I had listened to all the threats I would not be here today.”
