Barcelona are ready to exchange Ousmane Dembele with Juventus striker Paulo Dybala to avoid losing the former Borussia Dortmund man for free in the summer.
With just a few weeks to go before the transfer window closes, Barcelona have made the final announcement in Dembele’s camp. According to the above source, his representatives have until Wednesday to say whether they will sign a new contract or leave the club in January.
Barcelona are looking forward to the move with a free transfer and that is why they are looking for a way that can benefit all teams. And with Juventus showing potential interest, a direct trade proposal could be of benefit to everyone involved.
While Barcelona’s interest in Alvaro Morata continues, Massimiliano Allegri’s reluctance to lose the Atletico striker has forced the Catalan club to look elsewhere. With that in mind, Dybala could fit in well while Dembele, too, could fulfill Allegri’s desire to add offensive numbers in January.
Dybala’s situation at Juventus is similar to Dembele’s. The Argentine striker has a contract until June 2022 and as a Frenchman, has had trouble dealing with the Juventus board. With the Turin club determined to eliminate the 28-year-old, this could be the best way for Barcelona to bring out the best in all fiascos.
The Catalan club does not really have much time. If they fail to establish a deal this month, there is a good chance the 24-year-old will be out of the summer. However, contrary to what is being said in the media, Dembele wants to renew but his agent’s words are not in the same direction, as Xavi admitted today.
As things stand, the next few hours will be crucial not only for Barcelona but also for the player.
