Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool and Mohamed Salah are in a good position to secure the striker’s future at the club, as contract talks continue.
Mohamed Salah has 18 months left on his contract, and talks about his future at Liverpool gained momentum this week after an interview with GQ and he made it clear he was not asking for ‘crazy things’ from the club.
The 29-year-old’s future at Liverpool has been the talk of the town for most of the season, with Klopp being asked about the situation on Wednesday.
“There was nothing unexpected about it,” Klopp told a pre-match press conference on Wednesday.
“I know Mo wants to stay. We want Mo to stay. That’s where we are. It takes time.
“I think it’s in a good place. I’m very happy about it.
“They know the club and they know the people who work things out here. We can’t say anything about it.”
Mohamed Salah is the Premier League’s leading scorer this season, has 20 goals, and is one of the many assistants, along with teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Premier League and Champions League winner is currently on an international mission in Egypt for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, and was part of a team that lost its opening match against Nigeria on Tuesday.
