The disappointing Roma results include a derby defeat to Lazio, a 3-0 defeat by former club Mourinho Inter, and now the second defeat of the season for both AC Milan and Juventus in four days.

To make matters worse, Roma lost a two-goal win over Juventus on Sunday.

Manuel Locatelli, Dejan Kulusevski, and Mattia De Sciglio completed Juventus’ return to the Stadio Olimpico, and Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny – a former Roman player – saved a penalty late from Lorenzo Pellegrini.

With Mourinho pulling steadily from his various responses to the Premier League, Roman became the first Serie A team in modern times to start three England players as newly signed Ainsley Maitland-Niles joined Chris Smalling and Tammy Abraham in the early 11th.

Abraham opened the scoring with a header early in the game and Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pelegrini – with a free-kick – made it 3-1 for Roma after Paulo Dybala’s equalizer.

Paulo Dybala now has six league goals this season and three in the UEFA Champions League.

Juventus lost striker Federico Chiesa due to obvious injuries before the break but managed to come out strong in the second half.

Juventus are in fifth place, three points behind Atalanta and the Champions League final, and the Roma are in eighth place.
