Trevor Sinclair: Cristiano Ronaldo should keep his mouth shut

Manchester United’s signing of Cristiano Ronaldo last summer was widely expected by the Red Devils to achieve great things for the 2021/22 season, although it has never worked this way so far.

The debate over whether Ronaldo has had a positive impact on the club, despite his ambitions, continues in England, and former Manchester City striker Trevor Sinclair has expressed his feelings about the matter.

Sinclair believes Ronaldo is not as focused on how he should be on stadium issues and advised him to keep quiet and focus on football more than any other club-related issue.

“I’m starting to think that Manchester City blocked the bullet by not signing Cristiano, I think that,” Sinclair told talkSPORT.

“Looking at some of the players who are struggling to find form at Manchester United, the young players, [Jadon] Sancho, [Marcus] Rashford, are struggling to do well.

“Yes, you can [blame Ronaldo]. Know your role, you are a football player, you are employed by a football team.

“Shut your mouth because sometimes that is the best thing. You create a lot of problems in the football club.

“Not only his lack of goals in recent times but also the fact that Ole (Gunnar Solskjaer) is gone and Michael (Carrick) came in and dumped him in the game.”
