Arsenal have confirmed the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the striker is set to join Barcelona.
Aubameyang has not been seen at Arsenal since being sacked by the club captain last month and the North Londoners were determined to move on following his exit from the Emirates.
Arsenal have now confirmed that they have agreed to terminate Aubameyang’s contract ‘on a regular basis, with the 32-year-old free agent completing a move to Camp Nou in a deal that will save the Gunners around £ 25m.
As for the striker, it is understood that he has taken a major financial reduction to be able to travel, given Barcelona’s financial situation.
The Gabonese international player will be the third Barcelona player to sign in the Premier League this month, after concluding deals with Ferran Torres and Adam Traore as the club looks to strengthen its attacking options.
Aubameyang signed for Arsenal on a £ 56m deal from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018 and scored 92 goals in 163 appearances for the Gunners, including scoring two goals in the final as he holds the club to victory in the 2020 FA Cup.
Aubameyang’s departure comes despite Arsenal’s failure to sign a midfielder in January, with the club having Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah as top picks for the rest of the season.
