Luka Modric is not close to making any decision about retirement. The evergreen midfielder remains at the top of his game despite being 36 years old, always a key part of Real Madrid’s core trident, along with Toni Kroos and Casemiro.
Modric has played 26 games in all competitions this season and has taken it from his career considering his age.
The way he played has left many wondering when his form will come out, and when he will actually quit.
But the Croatian midfielder has no plans as he has, taking him season after season with a contract.
“It could be 40, or more, or less. Let’s see, ”he said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo. “I have to move slowly so that I can enjoy what I am doing.
“I feel good about myself. That is important, and psychologically. I am in the biggest team and the best club in the world without a doubt, and I am working to maintain this level as much as possible. ”
Modric only has a contract until the end of the season as things stand, but Real Madrid are planning to offer him a new contract.
How long that deal will last remains to be seen, but Los Blancos know they could be foolish to let the midfielder leave this season.
Although game time may need to be reduced next season, Modric’s level still places him among the world’s top midfielders.
