Carlo Ancelotti’s future at Real Madrid beyond this season is in jeopardy, according to a Diario Sport report. Florentino Perez is said to be unhappy with the way Madrid played last night against Paris Saint-Germain and does not see Ancelotti as a man who could lead them into a new era.
Ancelotti was quickly sacked last summer after the departures of Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte failed to materialize. The Italian veteran was at Everton at the time and seemed to be a good man to replace Zinedine Zidane for a while.
And Madrid have been good in La Liga this season, currently leading the way and sitting four points behind Sevilla. They also won the Supercopa de Espana. However, they have been knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Athletic Club and now face a tough exit from the Champions League, which is Madrid’s most important competition.
Ancelotti has two seasons left on his contract after this but it is likely Florentino could make a change in the summer. Two big names have been linked to the position and have long been admired by Madrid president PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino and Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp.
