Liverpool striker Sadio Mane jokes about leaving the club to join Marseille during Senegal’s Africa Cup of Nations victory, telling the French club to ‘invest’.

Mane scored the winning penalty in Senegal’s victory over Egypt in the final on Sunday, setting the country’s first AFCON title. The 29-year-old was already a national hero in his home country and a historic victory only confirms that situation.

Sadio Mane has been with Liverpool since a £ 34m transfer to Southampton in 2016, advancing from being a Premier League-level player to one of the best strikers in the world.

He has just over a year left on his current Liverpool contract and the Reds have recently signed Colombian winger Luis Diaz, who is expected to replace him for a long time.

There is no suggestion that Mane will leave Liverpool anytime soon, but after winning the Afcon he joked that he would join Marseille if they make an effort to sign him.

Mane was spotted on a live Instagram account hosted by his Senegalese colleague and current Marseille player Pape Gueye during a comment.

During his lifetime, he laughed and joked, saying: “Marseille, make an effort, invest and I will come! You have to pay for the transfer and I will come! ”

The club is very popular in French-speaking West Africa and Mane has revealed in the past that, while the Premier League was on his radar at a young age, he grew up watching Ligue 1.

“To be honest, most of the time I watched the French league because at the time I liked Marseille. Marseille was my team. At one point I watched the Premier League and the Champions League, ”he explained in a 2018 interview.

Mane began his professional career in France, joining Metz in Ligue 2 after being spotted playing for his Senegalese club Generation Foot. The player also revealed earlier that he ran away from home in his hometown at the age of 16 when his parents unknowingly tried to make him a soccer player in the capital Dakar, borrowing money from a friend to pay for a bus ride. .
