The sale of Chelsea will be the most expensive club sale in history, as the 950 million euros the Glazers spent on Manchester United, or the 330m euros paid by Newcastle United this season, will close to the 3.3 billion euros deal for the Blues.

Roman Abramovich’s willingness to sell the club due to pressure and sanctions from the British government and the European Union indicates that Chelsea’s price will be reduced.

The club received up to 300 offers, of which between 20 and 30 were official. Abramovich is estimated to have a value of 3.3 billion euros and that is the amount that beggars will be asked to pay.

Despite not getting any money from the deal, the Russian businessman wants to make sure Chelsea are in good hands with the wealthy owner.

If they reach that figure, they will not only surpass Manchester United’s sales as the most expensive acquisition in history but will also surpass the American franchise record held by Brooklyn Nets owner Tai Tsai, who took over 51 percent. of the franchise in August 2019 for about three billion euros.

Although the Blues’ situation has changed slightly in recent days after the club was allowed to sell tickets for away and home matches in the Champions League, FA Cup, and Women’s Super League, the UK government has raised spending limits. Home games reach a million euros, with the sale of the club still a priority.

The offer period closed on March 18 and favorites have presented their projects with Raine Group, with American bank Abramovich confident to sell the club, selecting the best offers and powerful nominees from the United States.

The owners of the Chicago Cub, the Ricketts family, were considered one of the main contenders. They managed to end the 108-year curse of failing to win the World Series and repair their stadium, but family ancestor Joe Ricketts is accused of making some anti-Islamophobic statements.

The coalition that includes investors Todd Boehly, Hansjorg Wyss, and Jonathan Goldstein has also expressed interest. Other strong contenders include British billionaire Martin Broughton, former Liverpool, and British Airways president Sebastian Coe, British Olympic Committee president, and Josh Harris and David Blitzer, owners of the NBA Franchise Philadelphia. 76ers and NHL team New Jersey Devils, in addition to Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive.
