Brazil head coach Tite was emotional after his side’s 4-0 win over Chile in World Cup qualifying on Thursday in what may his final game in charge on home soil.
Tite had earlier announced he would leave the club after the 2022 World Cup, which he took over in June.
In Tite time Brazil won the 2019 Copa America but was knocked out of the 2018 World Cup in the quarter-finals.
Recently, Tite guided Brazil to the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in November with several games left, with the Selecao still unbeaten in their qualifying campaign with 13 wins and three draws.
Brazil currently runs 10 unbeaten games in all competitions, since last year losing to Argentina in the Copa America final.
“There are many meanings, many situations,” Tite said after defeating Chile in his final game as head coach at home.
“They are numerous and special. Thank you very much to the fans who attended the Maracana today, thank you very much.”
Tite can still lead the Selecao to Brazil and with the postponement of the qualifier against Argentina it will still be postponed although the match will be dead and both sides will be eligible for free, with the desire to reunite.
In winning the Chileans, who appear to be missing out on the 2022 World Cup, Tite praised the level of his team that played well, without pointing out individuals.
Two things have changed for me: players who are kind and confident to come to the national team and play their club games, this is difficult because of the expectation of wearing the national team shirt, ”said Tite.
Brazil’s next qualifying match will be in Bolivia on Tuesday, when they will be without Neymar and Vinicius Junior after receiving yellow cards against Chile forcing a suspension.
