Cesc Fabregas discusses the whistle that Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi received from Paris Saint-Germain fans following their exit from the UEFA Champions League by Real Madrid.
Messi suffered this brutal reception from his fans during PSG’s first game in Ligue 1 following their exit from Europe, and the Monaco midfielder thinks a player of his caliber deserves no treatment.
“Leo’s case is very simple. For me, he was the best I’ve ever seen and played with,” Fabregas told MACA.
“What I’ve seen has been unique.”
Fabregas has been treated in the same way as Barcelona fans in the past.
“I was called to the Camp Nou,” he said.
“I know what happened to PSG. The fans want to create a moment of disagreement for the players.
“During the game, they support you, if they sing your name, they are perfect, but what I saw the other day, the ridicule when Neymar loses the ball or whistles when they touch the ball, is worse.”
The 34-year-old realizes that these players earn a lot of money, and fans can be frustrated, but he supported Messi to bring success to the French capital.
“They forgive me for being paid so much, losing against Real Madrid, okay, but they didn’t want to win? That’s what comes first,” added Fabregas.
“With PSG they have not won anything yet, but they will definitely win the league.
“He’s talking about a new player [Messi] who has just arrived. PSG have never had a player like him in his life.
“It’s better to thank him, support him and not crush him. This year or next these young men will bring you good times.”
