It seems that Barcelona are moving ahead with their summer transfer window plans as they look to leave nothing to equip Xavi Hernandez with the best team that can put the team back on top.
Although the player exchange window may be left for a few months, Blaugrana is already making a quick move-in pursuit of a few players and is in a good position to close a few deals before the official window officially opens.
Negotiations with Cesar Azpilicueta, who agreed to a contract to join Barça, have been circulating for a long time. Now, the Catalan heavyweights are closing two Bosman contracts according to a new report from Mundo Deportivo.
The report says the La Liga bulls are on track to negotiate the signing of Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen and AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie. The team hopes to close the deals in the coming days and if possible make an official announcement to confirm them as well.
Christensen, like Azpilicueta, will see his contract expire at the end of the season. Barcelona have been working on signing him for a while now, but things have grown rapidly over the past few weeks.
The report states that Barca director Matthew Alemany was in London on Monday for further talks and the club is hopeful that the deal will be closed, despite interest from Bayern Munich. It is believed the player is eager to join the Catalans.
As for Kessie, he has turned down a new contract offer from AC Milan and looks set to leave. Like Christensen, there has been no shortage of interest in the Ivorian, especially in Premier League clubs.
However, Barça has been in talks with the midfielder’s camp for months and is believed to have reached an agreement.
And the club are now considering releasing the final details of the contract and making an official announcement so the 25-year-old can put all his ideas in bed and focus on finishing a solid season with AC Milan.
Christensen is a very talented defender with the necessary skills to fit well with Xavi’s philosophy in Barcelona. Kessie, on the other hand, can add a different flavor to the current Barça midfield unit, as well as leadership and goal-scoring ability.
If the club manages to get these two deals over the line, there will be no shortage of big fights.
