Harry Kane has tied with Wayne Rooney for a Premier League goalscoring record away from home as he shut out Spurs in a 3-2 loss to Manchester United.

The England captain has hit a penalty to equalize with his former Three Lions teammate for 94 league goals in his career. It took Kane only 138 games to reach the historic site, while Rooney needed 243 appearances.

Kane had already gone to Premier League legends such as Alan Shearer (87 goals), Frank Lampard (85), and Andy Cole (83).

The goal also made him equal to Lampard as the fifth all-time leading scorer in 177 attempts.

Kane will have the opportunity to sack both Rooney and Lampard next week when the Spurs visit Brighton on Wednesday. In addition to doing well at Old Trafford, Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick saw United return from their defeat at Manchester City and boosted their Champions League qualifiers, damaging Tottenham.

Arsenal sit in fourth place, have four games in hand for United, and sit just two points behind them in fifth. Tottenham are in seventh place and have two games in hand – one of which is the north London derby against Arsenal – but their rift has severely limited their chances of finishing in the top four.
