Kylian Mbappe reportedly told his close friends that he plans to face Real Madrid on Wednesday, despite the PSG man hitting something high in training.
Mbappe was caught by teammate Idrissa Gueye a week earlier this week, sparking fears that he would not be able to qualify for the second leg of the Champions League Last 16.
PSG had hoped for Mbappe to avoid serious injury but declined to be questioned on whether he was really ready for Wednesday’s game.
Now, COPE says Mbappe has assured those around him that he expects to appear in the game and will ‘play safe’ if necessary.
L’Equipe also expects Mbappe to return on time. X-rays on his foot showed no fractures and PSG are believed to have done a good job of containing the swelling and pain, meaning the 23-year-old should keep his place in the Real Madrid squad.
Mbappe took to Instagram to show his support for Gueye, who was criticized by PSG fans for hurting their star.
“All of us, always. Here, it’s Paris,” he wrote next to a photo of himself and the actress.
