Lionel Messi returning to Barcelona is not something that president Joan Laporta is considering.
Laporta’s comments on the situation came after Dani Alves and Pedri said they would like to see the Paris Saint-Germain striker return to Camp Nou.
Messi, 34, left Barcelona after last season when the club’s financial limits suggest he may end up signing the world’s best player in a new contract.
Speaking to RAC 1, Laporta made it clear that he had no contact with the Argentine overseas player.
“Right now there is no liquid contact and I am not talking to him, there is no contact with him,” he said.
“She’s in Paris, but I miss her dearly. I know what she’s talking about, but I’m not talking to her.
“I have not received a message from Leo or those close to him about his return, the truth is that at the moment we do not think that.
“We are building a small group of people with some experience, and making good symbiosis work again.
“But Leo is Leo, the best player in the world. He deserves to be respected as a player and a man. He won, but that’s not what we plan.”
Reflecting on Messi’s departure from the team, Laporta said there was not much he could do.
“For me, it wasn’t easy at all, but as it happened, I thought the club should come first – I couldn’t put [Barcelona] in great danger,” he said.
“I think we did what we were supposed to do.”
