Barcelona sealed a seventh straight LaLiga win as Luuk de Jong’s stoppage-time header earned a dramatic 3-2 victory over a Levante side who were awarded three penalties.
Jose Luis Morales’ penalty seven minutes later gave the players the lead, and they could have been 2-0 up later, however, Roger Marti’s pat-kick was blocked by Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Barcelona seized the opportunity, leading 2-1 within seven minutes of missing goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Pedri.
Levante thought they had scored a point when Gonzalo Melero scored in the space of seven minutes, but instead of De Jong appeared in extra time to get another high point for the Blaugrana.
Daniel Cardenas blocked Ferran Torres’ powerful ball early in the second half before Morales drove home after Dani Alves had blocked Son’s ball in the penalty area.
Levante squandered an opportunity to double his profit from 12 yards in the 56th minute, with Ter Stegen blocking Marti’s goal after a strike from Eric Garcia’s ball hit the post.
The home team was penalized just three minutes after unmarked Aubameyang headed Ousmane Dembele’s eight-meter header.
Pedri, who had only seven minutes left on the pitch, put Barca ahead in the 63rd minute with a 15-yard touchdown pass after being replaced by Gavi’s replacement.
Levante looked set to defend the point when Melero opened his scoring in the 83rd minute after Clement Lenglet had tossed Dani Gomez off the bench, just two minutes off the bench.
We still had time for one recent turn, however, as De Jong met Jordi Alba’s cross on the left wing with a fine header past Cardenas who could not help himself in the second minute of team time.
