Liverpool are close to reaching an agreement with striker Mohamed Salah over a renewal of his contract after the Egyptian forward reportedly decided not to seek a salary increase that would equal Cristiano Ronaldo’s salary at Manchester United.

Salah’s contract expires in 2023 and the Liverpool star is expected to sign a contract that will allow him to stay for another four seasons.

The Reds were concerned that they might need to make money on Salah in the summer after talks between the two teams were brought to a stop a few months ago.

In fact, Salah turned down an offer that would see him earn 400,000 pounds a week, demanding half a million pounds a week. However, according to the Mirror, the Egyptian striker is now preparing for a new Liverpool deal after lowering his demands.

Several European elite clubs including Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona have been linked with Salah’s summer tour.

However, the Liverpool star has reportedly accepted his support from the club and head coach Jurgen Klopp after failing to win the Africa Cup of Nations and missing out on the 2022 World Cup.
