Ousmane Dembele’s signing from Barcelona portrayed Josep Maria Bartomeu as a troubled president.
An unexpected wage bill has caused the club to collapse beyond the Covid-19 limits and with the need for a pay cut, the French attacker has become an asset.
However, Dembele is reportedly determined to keep him at Barcelona in the lurch, although he would be leaving at the end of the season.
As his contract expires at the end of the season, Ousmane Dembele is set to reduce his salary to sign a new contract at Barcelona, Sports Reports.
Dembele’s agent Moussa Sissoko and the Barcelona board reportedly met and it emerged that the Frenchman was willing to pay a salary to continue playing under Xavi.
Return to investment has been delayed for the 24-year-old striker following his transfer of 140 million euros from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.
Dembele has scored one goal in all competitions this season for the Blaugrana but is leading the team with 11 assists in 28 games.
