Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos has revealed he wants to extend his contract with the club until he expires in 2023, as well as a play before his 40th birthday.

Ramos moved to Paris as a free agent last summer following his departure from Real Madrid after 16 seasons with Los Blancos. But despite his arrival, the four-time Champions League winner has struggled to find minutes on the pitch.

Injuries, which also plagued his final season with Real, have ensured Ramos was unable to play his first game until the end of November and has only played seven times in all competitions throughout the season – he has just returned from his recent absence.

Ramos had been frustrated by PSG fans when he appeared on the bench during their win over Lorient earlier this month but started on the road against Clermont Foot last week.

However, difficult situations did not force Ramos to want to leave and he seems to accept the challenge of making sure his time at the club will be a success.

The midfielder, who turned 36 at the end of March, has revealed that he intends to extend his career to 40 but wants to stay at PSG in the short term.

“I would love to play another four to five years at the highest level, and then hear more,” he explained to Amazon Prime. “I have a two-year contract here in Paris [and] we will try to do that three! One more, we’ll see. ”

Extending his contract will see Ramos stay at Parc des Princes until the summer of 2024.
