Cristiano Ronaldo showed no signs of slowing down in the 2021/22 season, as he enjoyed another exciting season in front of goal.

The 37-year-old scored 30 goals for the club and the country and in Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Brentford.

Ronaldo has scored 24 goals for the club this season and six for Portugal and 18 in the Premier League.

His Premier League season statistics are only better with Son Heung-min (19) and Mohamed Salah (22).

The Portuguese striker has received a good review of his goals, with former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov singing his praises.

“[Ronaldo] has shown that he can still do it at the age of 37 in the Premier League, he likes to show that people are wrong and I am sure he will want to continue to do that and play for another few years,” said Berbatov.

“If he quits it will be a sad day in football because he is one of the real heroes.

He has equalled his 2008/09 Premier League tally

Age is just Ronaldo’s number, as he is equal to his Premier League figures for the 2008/09 season in 18 strikes.

That was his last season of his first spell at Old Trafford before moving to Real Madrid.

Ronaldo was 24 that season and reached that number in 33 games, and this season, it took him 29 games to do just that.

His Manchester United future is uncertain

Ronaldo has one year left on his Manchester United contract, but his future at the club is unknown due to the arrival of Erik ten Hag’s imminent arrival.

Roy Keane played with Ronaldo when the Portuguese player started playing for the club, and he made it clear he fully expected Ronaldo to stay this summer.

“I know there are speculations, but I don’t think Ronaldo will be out of Man United next year unless there is a big change in the summer,” Keane said.

“If you look at the goals he has, he’s dangerous and any manager would want to work with him. It’s that easy.”

Rio Ferdinand said Ten Hag should keep Ronaldo and get him to change his game for the benefit of the team.

“It’s going to decrease with age, it’s okay and your body will deteriorate differently when you’re 37,” Ferdinand said.

“You have to work logically and Cristiano is not stupid, he understands, but packing in a way that ‘this works for us’ is a conversation.”
