Erling Haaland has £128m release clause in Manchester City contract

Manchester City’s Erling Haaland contract is believed to contain a £ 128m release clause that could be used after his first two seasons at the club.

Manchester City have confirmed they have reached an agreement to sign Erling Haaland at the end of the season on Tuesday subject to the finalization of personal terms.

And the German newspaper Bild reports that the Erling Haaland camp has negotiated a £ 128m release clause in the Norwegian agreement at the Etihad Stadium, which has left them at risk of finding major European clubs.

Real Madrid and Barcelona were both keen to sign Erling Haaland this summer but opted to pursue other goals in part due to the financial situation it would have taken to beat Man City in the race for his signing.

But the football and financial situation may look very different two years from now and if Haaland remains one of the best players in the world there could be another long line to open this release clause.

In addition to Real Madrid and Barcelona’s interest, Chelsea were hoping to escape the signing of Haaland for a hefty £ 150m bid. Other England reports have said that the Blues would have wanted a Borussia Dortmund player this year if they had not received sanctions from the UK government.
