The Three Lions’ are sung by England fans in tournaments from Euro 96 and the FA has no intention of changing it as their song.
The Football Association has denied reports that it plans to close England’s official Qatar 2022 World Cup in place of the ‘Three Lions.

The British newspaper, The Sun, on Thursday said the FA was reviewing some of the options regarding the song, which has become a favorite with fans since Euro 96, offending other countries.

Luka Modric said after Croatia’s victory over England in the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup he said his team was once again encouraged to win because of the lyrics.

It has been suggested that ‘Sweet Caroline’, which has been similar to England’s run in last year’s Euro 2020 final, will replace Baddiel and Skinner.

However, the FA has issued a statement denying the allegations.

“Contrary to reports this morning, the FA is still playing against the Three Lions in the big Wembley games and has never intended to do anything different,” the statement read.

“The song is for the fans and it speaks to the hope of following the England team.

“The FA has been asked to be played as one of our team’s songs at the 2018 World Cup and EUROs last summer, and this is our plan for the upcoming tournament.
