Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe thanked Real Madrid for their efforts as he wrote on Twitter on Sunday night explaining his decision to stay in France.
Kylian Mbappe has long been linked with a move away from PSG at the end of his contract and signing for Madrid fans, but he has since decided to leave his childhood dream club.
Goals for the World Cup winner’s 28 goals and 17 assistants led both Ligue 1 charts this season, with his 45 goals – reaching every 67 minutes on average – most in the top five European leagues.
Those talents will not be reflected in Madrid’s colors.
On his Twitter account, Kylian Mbappe thanked Madrid and their president Florentino Perez and said he would always be a supporter of the Spanish giants.
“Today I wanted to announce that I have decided to extend my contract to Paris Saint-Germain,” he wrote.
“I am confident that I can continue to grow here, in a team that gives me all the means to get to the top.
“I would like to thank the president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, for his confidence, attention and patience.
“I also think of all the PSG fans, in France, and around the world, for their countless acts of love, especially over the past few months.
“I am very happy to continue playing in France, the country where I was born, and I grew up flourishing.”
Mbappe added: “I would also like to sincerely thank Real Madrid and its president Florentino Perez. I am aware of the opportunity and privilege I have had to visit such a center.
“I can see their disappointment. It’s as big as my doubts.
“I will be their biggest fan in the Champions League final in Paris. At home.”
Mbappe is expected to meet with the media on Monday to further discuss his decision to stay at PSG.
