Brazilian defender Marcelo has confirmed he is leaving Real Madrid following the UEFA Champions League final.

The 34-year-old left-back has been in Los Blancos since 2007, appearing nearly 550 times in the Spanish giants, following Karim Benzema alone as a top-class outsider.

Marcelo, who was unused in their 1-0 win over Liverpool on Saturday, has confirmed after the game that he will leave the club this season without a contract as his contract expires at the end of June.

“It was my last game against Real Madrid,” said Marcelo.

Marcelo will leave the club with 25 titles as Madrid, more than any other player in the club’s history.

It has been speculated that the Brazilian could accept a pay cut to continue with Madrid next season.

Marcelo, who joined Madrid from Fluminense, has played 18 games in all competitions in the campaign.
