United States Soccer has announced that negotiations have been launched to ensure that the national teams of men and women receive equal pay.

This means that the FIFA World Cup prize money will be collected and divided equally between the two teams.

The men’s team will compete in the World Cup in Qatar later this year, having been drawn in the same group as England, Iran and the European champions.

The women’s team has won the 2019 World Cup in France and will be among the favorites of the 2023 event in Australia and New Zealand.

The US Soccer League announcement on Wednesday said: “The United States Soccer Federation (USSF), the United States Women’s National Team Players Association (USWNTPA) and the United States National Soccer Team Players Association (USNSTPA) have agreed on historical terms, for the first time . -Comprehensive collective bargaining agreements of their kind (CBAs) that earn equal pay and set a progressive international standard in international football.

“The two CBAs, which lasted until 2028, receive equal pay for the same economic terms. These economic policies include the same compensation for all competitions, including the FIFA World Cup, and the introduction of the same trade-offs for both teams.

“The agreements will ensure that the players of the American National Football Team remain among the highest paid in the world.

“Under these agreements, US Football becomes the first Association in the world to claim the FIFA World Cup trophy awarded to the US Women’s National Team (USWNT) and the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) for participating in its World Cup.

Equally important, new CBAs promote non-economic goals, including the health and safety of players, data privacy and the need to balance team and national obligations. ”

The total amount of money for the 2019 Women’s World Cup was $ 30million, with the United States earning $ 4m as winners.

France took home $ 38m by winning the 2018 men’s World Cup in Russia out of a $ 400m bag.

The president of American football, Cindy Parlow Cone, called it a “historic moment” and said the agreement “would permanently change the game in the United States”.

“I am grateful for the dedication and co-operation of the national team of men and women and I am very proud of the hard work that has led to this season.
