Bayern Munich and Robert Lewandowski should not have any bad blood between them if the striker moves on, says Holger Badstuber.
The Poland captain has made it clear he wants to leave Bundesliga champions Barcelona with a view to bringing him to the Camp Nou.
But with one year left on his contract and no obvious supporter of the two-time European Golden Shoe winner, Bayern plays solid football.
That led to a bitter verbal battle between Lewandowski and the club – but former Bayern man Badstuber believes there should be no hostility when he leaves.
“I think the awareness should be here,” Badstuber told Stats Perform.
“Bayern has done a lot for Robert Lewandowski and Lewandowski has done his job, scoring goals and representing Bayern well.
“So, in this case there should be no bad blood if Lewandowski decides to choose another option again.”
Badstuber is excited to see who the Bavarian grants will bring when Lewandowski the rising star leaves.
“It is clear that Bayern must find a successor, a candidate,” he added. “Who knows who’s already on the radar or who’s watching.
“It will definitely be fun to come, whenever it will be.
“For Hasan Salihamidzic and it’s a job he has to solve with his team, and I think the coach.”
