Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has backed Barcelona to find a way back to the top of the mountain in ‘two or two years.
Financial problems have slowed Barcelona’s progress both on and off the pitch in recent years but they have made good progress last season as new manager Xavi led Barcelona to second place in the La Liga title, but still 13 points behind Real Madrid winners.
Guardiola, who admitted that Xavi did ‘good work’ during his short time at the Camp Nou, urged fans to remain patient as Barça continued to rebuild and predicted a good result soon.
It’s always difficult when you can’t do great things but you have to calm down, ”said Guardiola. “There are times in history when you have to accept what the situation is. Sometimes, taking a low profile can help you grow faster.
“The economic situation is the same, I’m not talking about the level of coaches, managers or players, my view is that they are good but sometimes you have to calm down. a year or two and it will not be easy without being able to sign well.
“Now the situation is, they have to accept who they are and try to win the next game. But you have to accept what the situation is.
“It’s not what you want and it will be painful, but success will eventually come.”
Guardiola went on to admit that the future was bright for Barcelona because of all the young stars in the team.
“Gavi is good, like Ansu [Fati] or Pedri,” he continued.
“They show that there is a bright future and a very good job in La Masia.”
