Cristiano Ronaldo has rejected a mammoth contract offer worth €275m from an unnamed Saudi Arabian club.
Ronaldo has been heavily linked with a move away from Manchester United this summer, with Chelsea seen as favorites to sign the forward over the past month.
The Blues have now decided not to pursue CR7 – despite new owner Todd Boehly initially being tempted by the prospect of a statement signing.
The latest club to register an interest in the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, according to ESPN, is an unnamed club from Saudi Arabia. The club are said to have tabled an offer of €30m for Ronaldo’s services and also offered the player a stunning deal that would see the 37-year-old earn €275m in just two years.
But that offer was rejected by Ronaldo, who now looks more likely than ever to stay at Manchester United beyond this summer’s transfer window.
The striker only returned to the Red Devils last summer and despite scoring 24 goals in all competitions during the 2021/22 campaign, the club struggled to finish in a disappointing sixth place – scoring just 57 goals in 38 league games.
Things are looking a little more optimistic ahead of next season, with Man Utd appointing the highly-rated Erik ten Hag as their new manager.
