Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong was named in Barcelona’s squad for their pre-season tour of the United States as Xavi’s players prepared to depart on Saturday.
New signings Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen, and Raphinha have also been included by head coach Xavi as his side play four games to step up their preparations for the LaLiga campaign.
The Blaugrana face Inter Miami, Real Madrid, Juventus and the New York Red Bulls on their trip to America, where De Jong is also expected to feature despite question marks over his future.
Manchester United and Barcelona reportedly agreed a £63m (€75m) deal for the Netherlands international earlier this week, with a further £8.5m (€10m) in add-ons.
However, the midfielder, who would link up with former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, is widely reported to be keen to stay at Camp Nou.
Despite a busy transfer window, Barcelona are reportedly unable to register their signings as they struggle with financial fair play rules, and it has been suggested that the LaLiga club may have to cash in assets to alleviate the problems.
President Joan Laporta appeared to dismiss that theory on Friday, insisting the club did not need to sell De Jong.
