Timo Werner has only managed 23 goals in his first two seasons with Chelsea after joining from Leipzig in mid-2020.

The Blues’ new owners are willing to allow Werner, who has signed a five-year deal, to leave on loan.

The 26-year-old scored 95 goals in 159 games for Leipzig between 2016 and 2020.

Leipzig are leading the race for Chelsea striker Werner ahead of Juventus, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Bundesliga club met with Chelsea on Sunday and proposed a swap deal for Werner, who is Leipzig’s top target.

Juventus and Newcastle United have also shown interest in the German international.
