Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni commented on Lionel Messi following the team’s 3-0 win vs. Jamaica.
Lionel Messi started Argentina’s 3-0 win against Jamaica on the bench. Coach Lionel Scaloni brought him on as a substitute and Messi would score two goals.
Scaloni also played with Messi before coaching him when they were part of Argentina’s national team at the 2006 World Cup. Now coaching him and speaking to TyC Sports, here’s what Scaloni had to say about Messi after the team’s 3-0 win:
“I enjoy him as much as you do. He’s like Federer. He retired and the whole world thought he would be gone. It was amazing to see him play. The same with him, although much more, because football is a sport that moves a lot more. That is why it is enjoyed by the whole world, regardless of the country.
“It’s amazing to see. I have the opportunity to coach him, but if I was a fan I would have paid the ticket. The only thing left is to enjoy him because I don’t know if there will ever be anything like him.”
After the team’s 3–0 win, it was confirmed that Scaloni had renewed his contract with the Argentina national team.
