Greek giants Olympiacos have announced the signing of Real Madrid legend Marcelo on a free transfer.
The left-back brought the curtain down on a 16-season loan spell at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, opting not to sign a new deal in the Spanish capital.
He has been linked with moves across Europe since leaving Real Madrid and was reported to have held talks with Premier League side Leicester City on deadline day, but the Foxes denied such a deal was in the works.
Olympiacos confirmed the signing of Marcelo on Friday evening, with the Brazilian signing a first-year contract with an option for a further 12 months.
The Greek champions’ owner, Evangelos Marinakis, is also in charge of Nottingham Forest, having overseen one of the busiest transfer windows in recent memory.
Forest signed Hwang Ui-jo and Josh Bowler this summer, but both were immediately loaned out to Olympiacos.
