With a superb return from the trio of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi this season, Christophe Galtier is loathed to split them up.
Christophe Galtier says Paris Saint-Germain will not “break” their front three of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi if they do not have to.
The trio have helped fire the Ligue 1 champions to a superb start to the season despite the constant buzz surrounding Mbappe’s future.
Ex-Barcelona duo Neymar and Messi both returned to their best form with 22 and 23 goals respectively.
Ahead of this weekend’s clash with Troyes, Galtier acknowledged the hectic schedule could force a reshuffle of the attack, but is hopeful all three superstars will be fit again.
“It’s their state of fatigue that will judge whether they play,” the coach said. “They’ve given us 40 goals out of 50 this season so it won’t be based on their form.
“When we have that momentum, we don’t break it, we keep it. The medical staff has done an excellent job in the last few weeks. They’re fine. When that momentum is there, it’s maintained.”
A midweek UEFA Champions League clash against Maccabi Haifa, where Mbappe, Neymar and Messi scored a combined five goals in a 7-2 win, secured PSG’s place in next week’s final Group H game, guaranteeing a place in the knockout stages.
But whether or not they are deployed depends on their result with Juventus, with Galtier acknowledging the need to strike a balance between domestic and European commitments.
“We have an obligation to win against Troyes,” he added. “There will also be a lot at stake in midweek in Turin. There is the possibility of other players being involved during the match.”
