The inaugural Women’s Finalissima will take place at Wembley, with European champions England hosting South American champions Brazil.

European champions England will face off against Copa America Femenina champions Brazil at Wembley in the inaugural Women’s Finalissima next year.

The April 6 clash was organized between UEFA and CONMEBOL to follow on from the success of the men’s Finalissima final in June, where South American champions Argentina defeated European title holders Italy in front of a sell-out crowd at Wembley.

Intercontinental competition also took place at youth level, with UEFA Youth League winners Benfica defeating Uruguayan Club Atletico Penarol at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo in August.

The clash will give both England and Brazil the opportunity to claim another title ahead of the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The head coach of the Three Lions, Sarina Wiegmanová, will outline her enthusiasm for this match.

“We still have great games to come. This time we have the opportunity to welcome Brazil to Wembley and it will be another big moment after the Euro-USA game,” she said.

“Like us, they will be thinking about the World Cup next summer. It’s a chance to test themselves again against another top 10 team in the world, a chance to win another trophy and give our fans something special to watch, hopefully at a packed Wembley.”

England’s success at the Euros was only the second senior title they have ever won, while Brazil’s triumph against Colombia at the Copa America was their fourth in a row and eighth in nine editions of the tournament.
